Stephanie Ridge
For more than 20 years, I’ve been helping storytellers and brands share their love for the outdoors. I work with authors, athletes and conservationists whose stories celebrate wild places. Together we inspire readers and consumers to care more deeply about nature and take action to protect it.
Connecting voices from the outdoors with media and audiences.
Over two decades in publishing and PR, I’ve represented authors across genres and through many media eras, connecting them with key audiences through broadcast, print and online coverage. Journalism has changed in extraordinary ways throughout my time in the industry, but its ability to connect people and spark change is timeless. That belief is at the heart of my work.
I help outdoor writers—fly anglers, climbers, surfers, explorers, and conservationists—bring their stories to the masses. Reporting from high peaks, wild rivers and other remote landscapes, they transport us beyond our daily lives, inspiring wonder and connecting us to movements that protect wild places. Voices like theirs are essential in today’s world, and I’m proud to play a small part in cultivating wonder and motivating action.
With long-standing relationships, a proven record of earned media and a deep respect for journalists and audiences, I guide writers in sharing their work in the changing media landscape with real impact. These aren’t just moments in the spotlight, but stories that resonate far beyond the moment.
Testimonials
“Stephanie is the best PR agent I have worked with in my many years in book publishing. She doesn’t just send out requests, but is thoughtful and strategic in all she does. She understands that successful book promotion requires developing trusted relationships with the people and organizations who have mutual interest in the topics our books cover. She is my marketing partner from inception to publication, making sure our books have as much impact as possible, which is the key to successful publishing.”
Karla Olson, Publisher, Patagonia
“Over 40 years as an author, I have worked with publicists from National Geographic, Knopf, Simon and Schuster, Henry Holt, and W.W. Norton. Yet in my most recent project with Patagonia Books, I have never had a publicist as effective and tireless as Stephanie Ridge of Wild Ridge PR. Leading up to and after the launch of my book, Into the Thaw, Stephanie secured numerous podcast opportunities, radio and magazine interviews, book excerpts, lecture dates, and national mainstream media that included The New York Times and numerous NPR interviews. Wild Ridge PR knocked it out of the park!”
Jon Waterman, author of Into the Thaw, Atlas of Wild America and Atlas of the National Parks
“Stephanie is a more than just a book publicist, she becomes an evangelist for every book she works with. Which is to say, when she agrees to represent an author and a book, she goes to bat on a personal level in ways that few publicists ever embrace. She’s so effective that the target audience can’t help but hear about a book and want to read it immediately.”
Dylan Tomine, author of Closer to the Ground and Headwaters
“Stephanie is the gold standard of literary publicists—smart, strategic, and genuinely invested in connecting the right people. Thanks to her instincts and hard work, some of the most meaningful Mountain & Prairie episodes have happened. She makes my job easier, the show better, and—as an added bonus—she’s a really fun person to work with.”
Ed Roberson, Creator and Host of “Mountain & Prairie”
“Stephanie's skills as a publicist are second to none. Her network is broad and impactful. She connected me to engagements with dozens of podcast and media outlets, literary festivals, and bookstores around the country, helping to elevate my book to an award winner in short order. I don't think any author could have asked for more, and I'm so grateful for the marketing impact she added to my work.”
Mark Easter, author of The Blue Plate: A Food Lover's Guide to Climate Chaos, winner of a 2024 IBPA Gold Medal, and finalist for a 2024 James Beard Media Awards and Colorado Book Award
